First scope I put on that rifle, as a temporary to get it shooting had a x50 objective. The Nikon x40 is better - as already mentioned, it is the quality of the scope, rather than size of objective that makes the difference.

Biggest piss off with that set-up is that the scope, being mounted so low over the receiver, has to be removed to take off the light mounting bracket. Have had to get a couple of extra brackets to switch the light to other rifles.

Nope - the spotlight more than makes up for the size difference. IMO a 40mm looks a lot neater and mounts lower for better handling anyway.
