favourite air rifle scopes...let's hear it

what's everyone using? What's getting results?.....What has broken!!

I have been using A nikko stirling 4-12 x 42 AO Gold crown. Great scope although it gets a little hard to see pellet holes from 45m and beyond. Have just ordered a nighteater 6-24x56ag with illuminated mildot reticle. That ought to do the job.

On my HW100 I am using a Night Eater 6-24 X 56 (30mm tube) with the mill-dot reticle. The Illuminated target dot reticle has been out of stock at Highland sports for about 6 months.
Barska have a 6-24 X 50 with a fine target dot so I might take one home and try it out.

I have all Simmons scopes and 1 BSA:- 44Mag 6.5-20X44AO (TX 200),Whitetail 4-12X44 AO (SLR),Prohunter 4-12X44 Side focus (FX.22),Whitetail 6.5-20x44AO (CZ.22), Prairie Master 4-16X40 AO(Rapid.20)
and a new BSA"Platinum"6-24X44 AO TT Mildot(Alternate for FX).

Lewis don't forget that LG380 you sold me, that's where my 4-12x42 lives now. Seems to be a good partnership.

Thanks Zlugz!I would suggest a 3-12x44 BSA after the rebuild at least.Top choice is a Weaver V16 4-16x42 or V24 6-24x42.
If you want higher and it really isn't suitable on a 34,the Gerholdt&Reuss 5-20x50 is very nice.
Dianas are not easy to scope with the very short rail which has no real provision for a scope stop.

Yeah zlugz, not this little black duck I would love to be sponsored by Simmons! It would be great for all of us if it ever happened. But jokes aside Simmons may not be top of the range by comparison to some but they can take a fair bashing before they even look like packing up.
So there is still good value in them for the less rich of us. That could also apply to the BSA range after playing with the Platinum 6-24 I'm Quite impressed it lifted my performance with the FX and the FX could out shoot me anytime.

I've got a Bushnell Elite 3200 4 -12x 40 AO scope on my FX Cyclone and it's pretty good. The scope mounts are high enough for a bigger objective though and I'm thinking of replacing it with an Elite 5 -15 x 50 AO when I can afford to.

Great scopes for the money those Bushnell Elites

I normally am a fixed power scope person- but L described the adv of a variable esp on an AG. This was for my first AG in 10 years and my first real one- an RWS Exclaiber

Now I have 2 G&R's and if I can ever afford more AG's they will all wear G&R's.

Just love the centre dot reticle with X-hairs on the G&R. makes pellet placement a lot easier- even for a dud shot like me.

Aaaah, Zlugs. Do you mean the Night Eater or the Barska?
The NE is very nice. It seems clear and crisp. It will focus reasonably accurately and works just fine on my HW100. The reticle pattern is not too cluttered and when you get used to the graduations you could almost eliminate the constant "elevation knob twiddle" that seems to be all the rage in some shooting circles.
The 30mm diam. tube means more strength and slightly better light transmission but the 56mm objective lens is the thing that makes the scope so usefull at dawn and dusk. The diference between a 42mm and 56mm objective is not all that obvious during the day but when the light levels are really low then the big lens is the winner, hands down! Next time you see a shot of the press photographers at a sporting venue, look at the size of the tele lenses some of them use. In optics, size does matter.
The Barska is a slightly smaller scope with a fine cross-hair and a small centre dot more suited to paper target work but I cam see aplications in field target also. I havn't taken one home to practice with but the day after they came into the shop I showed one to one of our benchrest shooters and he couldn't get his credit card out fast enough! Seems that he had been looking through a nice new Nightforce scope ($1500.00) at the range and he felt this saved him about $1250.00! He could just be right too!

Yes.A nice little scope.I still have a couple of 6x32 and 4x32 here at $150 and $140 respectively.

Lewis, are there any versions of the G&R scopes with a side focus turret? I'm deciding which scope would go well with the Theoben TTR...

Basically I'm after mil-dots, side focus turret, 40mm or larger objective lens and I guess variable power...
