Kenny,
Have a 30br rougher and finisher in my hot little hands. Been making seating die bodies with them so be nice and you might get one when you come around to chamber your barrel.
Forgot to tell everyone Kenny can paint as well. My rimfire stock is going to his place to get the magic treatment shortly.
JR,
One thing that needs mentioning regarding the Omark is the short little bolt handle needs replacing or lengthening. Would go well with Tony's roller cam.

Are you a bloody mind reader?!? Just sold a Rem700 375H&H and 17Rem and am considering doing just that. Either get a Nightforce for the Savage HB I have to cut my teeth with as 300m is a long way for me currently, or purchase a Savage VLP-S or LRPV and keep saving for the Nightforce later on? The Savage's will need rebarreling/rechambering either way before they come up to scratch ... so maybe I should just bite the bullet and get the scope ... shoot the little 223Rem Savage until I've learnt something about loading, bench techniques etc etc then fork out for the rest. Luckily the Savage I have now is the older standard length action used for the 223Rem, so I can rechamber to anything 30/06 in length. Maybe I need to sell some more toys ...
Cant decide whether its toys or optics ... toys or optics ... Where is the best place to buy NightForce optics by the way???
Cheers...
Con

al bow,
I have been using an Alphatic resin called AV-180 This stuff when cured is stronger than the material you are gluing to, for a test stick a peice of wood to a concrete path and come back in a week and try and get it off.......bet ya only get the concrete
I use 16mm ply as it just works out to a nice width before trimming the forend and finishing(5 layers to 3") It's simply a case of cut out enough peices using a template for shape apply glue and press them together for a few days, a screw press is the best type but if you have enough clamps they will work fine...just a bit fiddly aligning all the bits as you clamp
Should have some pics up tonight.

Righto.....finally managed to upload a couple
First one is of my Remo 700 and a Win mod 70 I made for a bloke in Walcha. Pretty crappy pic really

This is a stock I made for a mates Remo in 7mm mag, he goes by the name of JimmyT and I know he's just lurking in here someplace
I combined the lines of a Speedy benchrest stock in the front, with the butt style of an MBR but removed the hand grip swell.

aJR......RICH.... no chance of that I reckon you would know exactly how much work these things take to do
Costs for paint would vary depending on the stocks finish and how much prep needs to be done, and what they want paint wise...hard to say. A buttplate is no big deal, I just polish a bit of alloy. If you want a figure for the budget/project maybe $150....if thats what your getting at

Thanks but...they are not that good in the flesh
You should be able to buy the 180 at any building supplies or hardware shop, costs about $20 for a half litre. I have not tried any epoxy's, they would probably work just fine and may be even better at filling any voids in the joints. They may be a bit 'thick' and give a glue line appearance if you are laquering perhaps......I dunno...hey try it out, might be the 'bees knees'

A project like this is great to help get people started into long range.
Once the initial expense is outlayed there is not a large cost involved to keep things moving.
The rifle is setup as a budget rig but the only thing that needs to be changed to make it flasher is the action. The rest of the components are top quality.
So depending on your budget you can build it either way.
cheers,
Shane

They are a very nice looking stock the thumbhole... I do think that with a heavy recoiling Fly gun a thumbhole will make it easier to drive.
For me however, I still think the recoil of a 30-284 would be to much for me to shoot consistantly.
Call me a sissy if you will, but if you cant drive it consistantly.. good luck!!!
Now, what caliber would you recommend with less recoil. I think The most for me will be a 6.5-284!!
Cheers
