Thats Jeffrey Allen's bdm, http://www.cdignition.com/index.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; - uses aics mags
its looks a little ugly to me.
darin at CT FIrearms & Tactical has come up with new supplier for aics mags for cheaper than normal- US made
anyone looking for a dbm for a remington based action there is a new player at http://www.seekinsprecision.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; he does .223 and .308 length mags with more coming. uses a m16 style mag release and proprietary mags. AI if you were to organise a group buy for these i'd get one in .223.

The BIG Problem with ANY of these systems that use M16, AR15, Mini 14, AICS Mags
is in some states it is illegal to own the components.

Also, try getting M16, Mini 14 etc Mags in through customs.

The other problem seems to be having to modify the stock to fit it.
I know of only 2 that don't require stock modification to fit them
which IMHO is the best way.

Couldn't see the picture on cdi's web site. think I may have a problem with my browser.

I fitted the conversion unit to my Steyr Scout rifle (308), and have 3 mags for it. The only possible concern is that the original 5 shotter can't be used with the conversion fitted, but who cares about that with 30 rounds on hand?.

personally i cant like the remmy factory dbm or the H-S Precision one
ordering mags for the dbm's is easy, in the b709a just put 5 or 10 round mag for remington 700
the new seekins dbm has proprietary mags so just order for remmy 700
yep all the good systems need stock inletting mods to work unfortunately.
no pictures on cdi's website but you can see some good ones in this thread on the snipershide.

Guys

I would first like to thank 500Nitro.. just been talking to him on the phone... nice guy.... has given me some very good information....

On the detachable magazine systems, we'll see which way it pans out. It will depend on interest........

I really like the look of the Seekins gear... it will be top notch... Only thing would be sourcing magazines years down the track.... could be a problem. Badger, or any that use AI magazines, would be a safer bet... I might have to buy a Seekins to check it out still!

Cheers

The Seekins mag looks very agricultural to me . Will wait and see what the South Oz boys come up with I think .

Yep, I'm interested. 10 rounds in .308 to suit a rem 700.

Shane is building a tactical rig for me and I am having the seekins bottom metal with detachable magazine put into a mcmillian A5, along with a set of Seekins Scope rings. Reviews have been good so hopefully it does the job.

Mate

You will be very happy with the Seekins metal no doubt. Seekins rings are second to none also!

All top gear!

AI ,
Much prefer the look of the prototype that you pictured to the Seekins . At least it should look professionally made once the sharp edges are rounded off . Mate I can't believe anyone would put that Seekins magazine in a rifle that they have paid perhaps three to five thousand dollars for ! I'd rather use Remington bottom metal . The Seekins (magazine) bottom plate and retention tabs look like something I knocked up myself after a big night on the piss . The trigger guard looks OK .
Will be disappointed if the SB Action Gunsmithing boys in S.A. can't do something better . Preliminary indications of pricing were very attractive by comparison with Badger , HS etc. . They have already made long action and .223 DM bottom metal for Remington 700 and it looks OK . Some photos of their magazine work in the gallery and new releases sections of their website . http://www.sbactiongunsmithing.com.au/new_releases.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Would be great to support local business and not have the hassle of B709A's and U.S. State Dept. export permits .

Bushchook, I don't think the above images of the Seekins magazine represent the final production model. There is a pic of the Seekins mag in the 6mmbr.com bulletin (2/2/08) and the mag looks to have a neat plate fitted on the base of the mag with no exposed tabs.

One thing I think Seekins got right was to design the .223 magazine a little longer than most. At 2.5", the magazine should allow bullets to be seated out further, good for the 204 and heavier pills in the 223.

Bushchook,

I haven't phyically got hold of the seekins bottom metal , but I am willing to take the advice and recomendations of Shane and others with regards to the quality of the seekins product.

Whitty ,
Only commenting on what I saw in the pics . If they have come up with a more professional looking bottom plate for the magazine then that is good news .
Crazyleff ,
Take advice from whomever you like ! If the magazines still looked like the ones pictured above then it wouldn't matter to me if Jesus Christ personally recommended them . They look like the sort of crap you'd expect when you paid a couple of hundred bucks for a Stirling .
