Mate,

Tikka M55's are a fine old rifle, I had one years ago and should have kept it.

cheers

G'Day all,
yes I concurr, I had a M55 in .222rem, should of kept it and rebarreled to .223 or 6ppc to use all those old ppc cases I wont use in competition for varminting!

Maybe the .223 will end up that way when the barrel give up the ghost!

I'm looking at getting one. It has been re-barreled with a stainless barrel in 223. My only reservations is that it was done using a Ruger barrel. Do you think it is still worth it

G'day all,
there was an article last year on rugers hammer forged barrels in Precision Shooting, apparently they are very consistent dimensionally and accurate. But I'd like to hear from others who own rugers.

Either way, the rifle will be a good starting point and I suppose the question is who did the rebarreling, was it a reputable gunsmith? Because a well machined and fitted factory barrel would be preferable to a match grade barrel that was a butcher fit by a backyard operator........
