If you have to shoot in the snow you really do need one of those rubber eye-cup thingies that he is using. Keeps the glare out of your aiming eye and improves the clarity of the image (especially the cross-hairs) in the scope.
But why would you shoot in the snow?

the nifty little trick is taking the photo of a bloke shooting in your direction
