the selleys dry lube is now marketed as SELLEYS "ezy glide".
according to the information on the can it is :-
* a dry non oily lubricant
* long lasting and will not attract dirt or dust
* dries clear
* ideal for "sticky" situations ( whatever that means?)
* suitable for leather, wood and other absorbent surfaces.
as my can is quite a few years old, the actual ingredients are not indicated, but from use, a light white/cream powder residue is visible after a few uses.
not sure what it is, am guessing some type of teflon, but i am probably incorrect.
regardless, it and the similiar products mentioned by kenny and others, all, no doubt do the job required.
cheers

Al,
It is hard to tell if it penetrates or coats as it's invisible...like all silicone products you wouldn't know it's there until you try and paint it The water slipped off like it was a ducks back...I could definately see where I didn't spray as the leather absorbed the water turning a darker colour.
The manufacturer claims it preserves and protects... so I imagine it does penetrate a bit.
The stuff dg is talking about sounds the go as I dunno where you would find the stuff I have....I have seen it everywhere...I think even Big W sells it
dg...I reckon it would be teflon too

Hi Al,
re the bags and moisture prob's i rubbed in a heap of Dubbin, you can get this stuff from most leather or shoe stores and i found it keeps the moisture from soaking into the bags. as for the slippery side of things, i'm not convinced that it helps or hinders the cause.
on slipperyness, i tend to aggree a bit with Kenny, if shooting on a wet day i would use a silicone spray or try the dry lube mentioned, and in the dry times i'd use powder, you might try and get some of that teflon tape as well as i think it would be a help in all situations regardless of what you put on the bags. if there's a teflon spray i'd like to see how that works as well.
pete.
