Results from First 600yd Match in Townsville

Post by albow »

Hi All

Well the first 600yd match was held today in Townsville with conditions being reasonable at times however the recent rain along with the rain today had the humidity unbelievably high and the resulting mirage at times proved a tad difficult.

All up we had seven shooters turn up with a couple of new faces which was also a great result.

In HG JR shot a group agg of 2.442" and a score of 202 which is the new high score shot in HG.

In LG gun the results were:

Group Agg

1st - albow @ 2.959"
2nd - Tony Z @ 3.525"
3rd - Bob Luther @ 4.125"

Score

1st - albow @ 205 which is a new LG score record and new range record. The score also included a new LG single target record of 54.
2nd - Bob Luther @ 199
3rd - Tony Z @ 186

We also had one of the new shooters Chris Blanch shoot his 223 in factory class for a score of 67 and no group agg which was an outstanding effort considering it was his first time shooting at this distance. I think he is hooked and will definitely be back :)

All up a good day was had by all.

* Edit to correct group agg

Holy cow

What's in the bloody water up there ? you blokes just keep going up and up.

3 Points off the US record...... WOW....that is making a serious shooter out of you Alan :D They will all have to bow when you walk to the firing line soon.
Better stop fooling around and start trying a bit harder now mate ...OK
Seriously...WELL DONE !

Good to see the student giving the teachers a lesson  I am sure you two get great satisfaction from that :D

Yeh Kenny, that Albow sure showed us masters how it's done. Gotta spend less time on the golf course and get with the program cause i'm getting left way behind. Anyone ever tells me an Omark in a home made stock can't shoot worth a cracker, wants to come on up and spot a match and they may change their mind about spending a couple of Ks on a custom action. The next one i do will be horizontal lockup dual lugs, drop ported with an oversized adaptor. Cal will be, 30/9.3x62 (JAT). Now that Al has the reamer, should be no trouble

Wouldn't that be so close to a .30/06 the difference would be absolutely tiny?

should be a few grains more in capacity. I suspect the brass quality is pretty damn good too; Lapua, I think.
Of course Albow can shoot like there's no tomorrow...

Hi Kenny - Not sure about the student giving the teachers a lesson.... need to repeat the performance for that sort of claim :D

HiWall

Yep it is pretty close to the 30/06 ackley however it has a bit more capacity with the main reason for using the 9.3 brass is the "strength" of the brass allowing it to be pushed a bit harder without suffering from the stress like the normal 06 brass.

Mate.....doesn't that then make it a 'custom' action

Al'.......I hope you repeat it many times in future, break your own record next :D

Jeff,
On the Omark bit ,it soo nice to remind some people that they just got beat up on by a $999 redneck special, not that i would do that mind! ..JR
Of coarse not

Just wondering....if say at the next shoot..a shooter breaks the LG US record :D will the seppo's recognise it ?
