I am not a deer guy so my needs might be different - I varmint a lot morning and evening.
I am curretnly using 8X30 steiner nighthawks (a special low light version) with my Leica's 8X30 (too expensive to drag through dirt)and steiner 10X26 (crap in low light) compacts reclining at home.
They do me well enough and I like not having to focus them which allow me easy one handed use for frequent scans. I sling them cross ways over my shoulder left arm - pull them forward to look, then slide them around onto my back for crawling, lying down to take shots off the bipod

Used to have a set of 10x50 Nikon's for hunting tahr in NZ. Changed to 8x30 Ziess. Like chalk and cheese.Carry them all day suspended around your neck and the big Nikons get very heavy. The peformance of the smaller Zeiss in the difficult light conditions experienced in the NZ mountains was incredible. They outperformed the Nikons by a country mile.

They are 8x30 B/GA T*P*
The peformance in difficult light conditions is incredible. In NZ i was finding animals when my mates with big quality 10x binos where left grasping at zilt. They are armour plated and stood up to the hammering
i gave them. You don't need big manification - you need quality.
