G'Day HB,
that's a fair comment about the factory using a bipod only, but ultimately so long as the rifle is factory it really comes down to the nut behind the butt. If you mis read the wind at 200, regardless of bipod or front rest, you most likely will not hit the paper.
So unless there are a number of people who want factory to be bipod only then perhaps it should stay bipod or rest. But, it wont effect me as I'm purely custom class. So you probably should get a ruling on that from AI. Also, if you beat a guy using a rest with your bipod, then how good it that!
For scoring, groups dont count; you either hit the scoring zone and earn points or miss and loose points. If you have a good group outside the scoring zone, you loose! Like the other day, it didn't matter how many times the centre dot was hit, if you had a higher point count you won.
It's all about strategy and knowing your abilities with your rifle.
And really that's the name of the game, how well you shoot your rifle.....and to be able to say at the end of the day that the competition was fun and that you have shot your best that you can. You may say you can do better, but, that's for next time. It's just about having a go and having fun........and BS sessions of course!

im up for it guys and cant wait of this to happen BUT
1/ silverdale only gos to 200m and thats where i shoot so what do we do for guys like me that cant shoot at 300m
2/ i think we should have 3 classes (any of you IPSC shooters will know what i mean) Open. Standard. Production.
OPEN, just about any things go
STANDARD, a Production rifle can be floated, pillar and compound bedded, trigger adjustment, new barrel, new stock
PRODUCTION, must be a Production or off the shelf rifle with no changes (maybe trigger adjustment could be allowed)
so thats my 5c

Guys
Let me know what you think about this below!
I want some feedback on the idea, and also the size of the scoring zones. I have only put in kill zone size as what I thought might be ok.
At 100m, 10 rounds. On one A4 sheet there will be 10 pictures of Myner birds or similar small target. The kill zone, will be around the size of a 3mm dot worth 10 points. Why so small? Well this has to be competitive with custom rifles, and a PPC is capable of hitting this still every time. Maybe one outer ring that is worth 5 points, and any hit on the actual picture receives 1 point. There needs to be 10 separate pictures due to at this short range many rifles being able to put one hole through another, which results in not being able to see how many rounds are shot.
At 200m, a picture of a crow. 5 rounds total on this target, and there is only one picture/target at this range. On the crow picture there will be 2 kill zones. One for head, the other for heart. The 10 ring on the head shot will be around 12mm, and then outer rings will go down to 6 point. Then at the heart, the kill zone is larger around the 25mm mark, and be worth 5 point. Then outer rings on the heart to 2 points. Anywhere on the crow out of these scoring zones results in 1 point.
At 300m, the target will be a rabbit. Now this target will work the same as the 200m, with two aiming areas and the scoring the same. The only difference it that the kill zones will be larger. 30mm for head, and 75mm for heart.
Just remember, these targets will be shot by both factory and target rifles, so they have to have some difficulty in them.
Thanks to Rinso to the input he gave me on this as well.
Lets get this underway..
What are the targets going to look like? They need to be printer friendly as well! So maybe a dark outline, with light grey fill. The kill zones will be black, and the outer rings also black.
Cheers

AI ---sounds like the way to go to me---
Damien has hit the nail on the head when he says Siverdale is limited to 200m----BUT--- I'm a range officer out at Siverdale and I know they used to shoot 300m, targets were put up on the dam wall---I don't know why they no longer shoot that distance, but I'll certainly enquire on behalf of Aus Var members..
I wonder if enough AUS VAR guys turned up could we run a dedicated shoot as well as 300m's?
I'll get onto the appropiate people
Cheers Malcolm

G'day A I
Mate there is a air gun field target site (us site) that has variuos critters where the size of the kill zone can be changed around ,and moved about too !!! just can,t remember the address ???
but it might be worth a search ,
Think you might need to do your 100 m target with 5 birds on 2 sheets , 10 on one A4 will be pretty crowded ??

Fella's,-------------------forgive me if I'm missing something here, I am assuming, ( there's that word again) that we would all like to compete at 100m, 200m and 300m's. All I am trying to say is---that I agree, that not all ranges cater for 300m's. If I cannot arrange a 300m shoot at Silverdale, and as per Rules SO-FAR," all distances must be shot on the same day"--which I agree with. I have already spoken to with a co-operative "farmer" and hopefully, if Silverdale is a no-goer, which it's sounds like it is, I can possibly line up something else.
I will still explore the possibilities at Hornsby Range
I would love to see AI's idea become a reality--- unless, of course he wins!!!!!!!!
Cheers Malcolm
