Muzzle brake for Weatherby MkV in 270 WBY

Post by RDavies »

Im looking for a muzzle brake for my Weatherby MkV in 270WBY. I found the muzzle thread is different size than regular muzzle break threads so cant just fit a generic brake. Any ideas who is the best company to order a genuine Weatherby brake? Or who might have muzzle brakes with Weatherby thread?

Hi Rod. MkVs use two threads, 1/2 ×28 on the sporter and 5/8 × 24 on the varmint. Earlier MkVs had no threads so a smith may have done yours in something more sensible on those light barrels like 14x1 or 9/16×24 where a generic 1/2 20 or 24 can be bored and tapped to fit. Then there is 13/16×24 or 18x1 on varmint barrels. There are some very obscure threads out there and some like myself have gone to left hand threads. Easy fix either way.
