A few months back i acquired a Marksman 72 air gun (made by Weihrauch) in 20cal. It came with 4 half full tins of various beeman pellets and initial testing sees it shooting reasonably well but it looks like none of these are readily available and I am on the hunt for pellets that are currently available in Oz.
Plan is just for hunting Indian mynahs and rabbits, as well as the usual plinking.
Any pellet suggestions?
Cheers
James

Re: 20cal Pellet availability
Not a lot of options that I have seen before. Klaus lists 3 different styles but I cant comment as I've never owned a 20cal air rifle. I use H&N 177 pellets in my air pistol and have used the 22cal ones in an air rifle and both shot well.

I've mostly used JSBs but H&N and others make good pellets. Airguns can be the most picky bastards on what they like. Never had anything to do with over 22s.

I've got a Sheridan and stocked up on a heap from Lewis.
Mostly Beeman Kodiaks but also a few assorted others like the H+N Sheridan slug (straight walled) and the JSB Exact.
They're all good quality so it comes down to what suits the gun.
If I was a betting man I'd bet the FTT or Exact will give about the best results.

I have heard from those who know that .20 HW barrels can be a tad oversized.

G'day All,
what sort of max hunting range to you get with the .20cal and are they effective on rabbits, mynas etc?
Many thanks.

Re: 20cal Pellet availability
Really, it's no different to a .177 or .22 and shot placement is everything.
Any supposed benefit it offers is splitting hairs IMO.
The difficulty in getting ammo (most gun shops won't stock it) is a major bugbear compared to .177 and .22 IMO.
The only reason I have one is because I always wanted a Sheridan.

Those three are all excellent .20 pellets.
