Lost interest
It wasn’t COVID that kept me away from the range Thai year, just had no desire and as 2021 approaches fast I’m still not feeling it.
So instead of selling the rifle I’m thinking of converting it to long range single shot deer sniper.
The question is, I think I read or was told that the tolerance on target actions is too tight to use hunting as a little dust could jam it up.
It’s a bat mb.
Is this true or could it work?

Re: Lost interest
Dust "could" be an issue - but ... plenty of very high end actions being built into PRS rifles.

An intetesting article.
https://precisionriflecomponents.com/wh ... s-of-2019/
BAT, Kelbly, Surgeon, Stiller all get a mention.
Not necessarily in the top 10 of commonly used actions though.

Mick what surprised me most about that list is that Desert Tech is actually on it.

Re: Lost interest
My varmint rifles, hunting rifle and long range rifles all have custom actions!
4 BAT's, 2 Stiller Diamondbacks, 2 Defiance Rebel's, Surgeon and a Terminus coming.
One of my BAT's is a SV which has the same finish as your BAT MB.
I have never had an issue with mine, ever!
If you are shooting from the ground use mat.
What caliber are you going with and how for do you want to shoot?

Re: Lost interest
Glenn thanks for the post. Good brain stimulation.
I also have a BAT sv set up as a varmint rifle and it is rarely used. Didn’t enjoy spotlighting with a angle shot much so it does’t come spotlighting.
Which made me think ‘do I really want a single shot hunting rifle?’
And the answer is no so I’ll forget about it in case I fell like going back to the range one day and sell it in a few years if I don’t!

To use a single shot out of the car you have to have good rest.

Re: Lost interest
Forgot that thread Glenn.
None of that happened. I cancelled the howa lay-by and used the credit on something else and I have two bats in the safe in exactly the same condition they were when I wrote that. The 6 bra hasn’t fired a shot this year. Instead of having two br rifles I lost interest in it completely. I’ll just do nothing with them and see what happens

Re: Lost interest
Maybe you just need to try a different type of target shooting every now and then? How about setting one of your 6BRAs up for Fly shoots? Have you been to a fly shoot yet?
It is all very civilized with good benches, shelter to keep the sun or rain off you, good targets.
Maybe even give match rifle F class a go, shoot from 1000, 1100 and 1200yds on suitable targets.

Or you could always try to be a man and stand up to shoot.RDavies wrote: ↑Tue May 25, 2021 8:29 pm Maybe you just need to try a different type of target shooting every now and then? How about setting one of your 6BRAs up for Fly shoots? Have you been to a fly shoot yet?

Then when you miss you have more excuses. Works for me.

But Trevort could be like me. Maybe when he shoots standing, it looks more like he is trying to swat flies .daisy wrote: ↑Tue May 25, 2021 9:35 pmOr you could always try to be a man and stand up to shoot.RDavies wrote: ↑Tue May 25, 2021 8:29 pm Maybe you just need to try a different type of target shooting every now and then?
