Wollongong gun shop owner Shane Simpson admits selling weapons to underworld figures
https://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-01-15/ ... l/11870872
A NSW South Coast gun shop owner who masterminded an illegal interstate firearms racket has pleaded guilty to supplying hundreds of guns over a six-year period.
Wollongong gun shop owner Shane Simpson illegally supplied 279 firearms, including Glocks and Desert Eagles, to multiple people including underworld figures between 2013 and 2019.

While I wouldn't call it a loop hole, six years is a long time to get away with doing dodgy interstate transfers.

Re: Wollongong gun shop owner Shane Simpson admits selling weapons to underworld figures
Bloody hell.
I know Shane, we spoke semi-regularly and he had helped me out a lot over the years. I had no clue he was into this sort of shit and it is hugely disappointing to find it out. I hope his family is OK.
I have no doubt he was pushed into it like he claimed. To me he was just a shooter that started his shop and loved his hunting and shooting, I guess he just got caught up with the wrong people and I can imagine once you say yes to that they don’t exactly let you say no.

Yeah Keith
The first time I met you was at Shane's shop and he was always helpful and as you said just loved the sport. It is a shame he took the path he did and will now pay the price and his family will be without a husband, dad and son.

Re: Wollongong gun shop owner Shane Simpson admits selling weapons to underworld figures
He is a criminal. According to the reports he did it because his family was threatened if he didn’t do it and he was relieved when he was caught.
If that is actually the case then that’s pretty sad and hard to knock the bloke. Which one of us wouldn’t do anything to keep our family safe?
I dunno. Either way I’m gutted. I had all the time in the world for Shane, he only ever did right by me and bent over backwards to help me over the years.

6 years without going for help? Judge didn’t buy it. I’m not buying it either
