Shane/Rinso were will this shoot likely take place?

Shane I see you mention other shoots that are already in the calendar. Reckon I can get as far as Wagga in a day easy enough.

Any chance you post that calendar? I would love to try to wear out a barrel in my first year learning :D

I will definitely allow and fully encourage anyone with a factory/varmint gun that wants to have a go to turn up here in Townsville. As said before, with a good factory rifle you can turn out some pretty good results and it just starts you down the path of building a proper bench gun.

The only reason we 'stopped' shooting factory class here in Townsville was because I built a proper bench gun and was the only person who was shooting a factory rifle. I would like to see some of the guys from the forum who were interested in the fly postal to go the range near them and give it a try with their factory rifle during the postal.

aJR,

Well I think I have a range organised .. looks like Lyndhurst might run it for us. For anyone interested Lyndhurst is between Bathurst and Cowra so anyone wanting to have a go will be most welcome. I will confirm details when they come to hand but looking at a Sunday in May at this time. Camping at the range is ok and there are showers etc.

Can you send a rules book for the 600 Jeff ???

dg,

If you dont get any interest at Dubbo/Narromine you can get to Lyndhurst and shoot with us there.

cheers

Jeff,

If this works out with Lyndhurst I may have a new 1000yd range going which would shoot 2 day matches of 600 & 1000 off portable benches.

Its a top little joint, camping at the range, clubhouse and bar, all cooking on the spit ... mmmmm

See what develops.

albow,

Mate those rules would be good when can you get them sorted

cheers

rinso

all sounds pretty good to me.

the more ranges that offer these events, the more the sport will benefit.
increased choice, interest and hopefully competitor numbers can only produce positive benefits.

i have already carried out a small amount of homework at lyndhurst and noticed that you have already installed some large wind indicators on the nearby hills.

when you set your mind to do something you certainly don't muck around.

hi all,
just woundering if you guys are looking at having a set season for all the long range shoots. i think it would be good to have set, (national) open & close dates, that way everyone knows what time they have to plan for different shoots, and we can also have a collective review and posting of the results at the end of the year/season.

for example; season start = Townsville, January 15th, season end = Brisbane, November 28th.

obviously these are just sample places & dates and all partisapating clubs would get together to finalise the actual season dates.

anyway just a thought,
Pete.

I would like to say a very well done to all those from around the country that have worked behind the scenes and come with the idea of the 600 Postal for next year and the starting up of multiple new ranges in other areas. I like others am looking forward to going to these places to attend the various shoots. Again well done to all. 600 Nationals in 2009 sounds brilliant.

Ditto all the other supporting comments; while circumstances keep me from attending (at the moment) who knows about the future?

Hi all

Just wondering how things are coming along with getting sorted for the 600yd postal? Being February now, before you know it May will be here :D

Other than Rinso, dg and Shane are there any other locations that are trying to be able to shoot the postal?

Shane, Rinso & dg

Well I have just had a re-read of this whole thread looking at dates for the postal weekend and it seems that Sunday the 25th of May would be the most suitable day that should fit in with all the ranges that are currently looking to shoot the postal.

Townsville were already planning to shoot on this date, it will fit Shane's restrictions listed in his post with dg and Rinso indicating that they could work with any date in May pretty much.

Are each of you able to confirm that you are all good for May 25th??....... and while we are talking about dates how about a second postal somewhere around September because after shooting it once you will want to do it again :D:D
