Howa mini for the tech gurus
Is there enough meat round the bolt rim to take a 6.5 Grendel to 308?
And what chance of a 20 dasher feeding from the mag do you reckon?

I thought the bolt diameter was the same as their 1500, just cut a bit out the middle, if so, there won’t be any trouble fitting

Re: Howa mini for the tech gurus
Can anyone think of a better option? I’m told there is an insert for ai mags to feed br cases. I’ve seen this howa mini in a chassis that takes ai mags and it’s cheap. I’ve played with howas before so it doesn’t feel rough like the thing I just got rid of

Re: Howa mini for the tech gurus
Trev,
Bolt dia of the mini is .617"
The clearance of a 308 case head bolt is .483"
That gives you .067" metal around the case head of the mini bolt now there is people on here that may think otherwise but I don't think that is enough.
I could see if a 20 PPC will feed out of the mag but what would be wrong with a 20 Grendel? I'm sure there would be a nane for it.
I'll be watching this with interest, let me know if you need anymore info.

Re: Howa mini for the tech gurus
Gary I got all warm and fuzzy a few years ago when I read about the 20 titan.
I want to use the same barrel and dies. Don’t want to have to find another reamer and another set of dies

Re: Howa mini for the tech gurus
I guess if I need an ai mag and an insert then a 308 action would do without the bolt face alteration

It will need a reamer run into it if they still screw them in to 5000ft/lbtrevort wrote:So I’ve put a deposit on a Howa. Anyone need a 20 inch 308 bull barrel

Re: Howa mini for the tech gurus
Like the one I bought off Trev not so long back. So tight Darren had to run a parting tool just in front of the action ringkickinback wrote: ↑Mon Sep 02, 2019 6:49 pmIt will need a reamer run into it if they still screw them in to 5000ft/lbtrevort wrote:So I’ve put a deposit on a Howa. Re: Howa mini for the tech gurus
At 399 for a barreled action selling the barrel would be a bonus
