How tough are Nightforce BR scopes?
Setting the benchrest rifle down to let the sweets soak in while I patched another barrel and Kerriet comes home from the supermarket.
It feels like its sitting securely.
I open the garage door to help with the groceries.
CLANG
the rifle falls 4 feet landing on the scope. The glass is unbroken and no rattles when I shake it but the enamel is chipped off the illuminated reticle battery cover thing and there is a deep gouge in the bell. I will find out if it still shoots at the weekend. I'll be damn impressed if it does

Don’t fuck around. Call Nightforce, get a docket number and send it back. No point finding out the hard way.

Then I won’t be able to go to narromine. It’s hardly a warranty issue since it was my fault

Except that they advertise you can do that shit, or at least they used to.trevort wrote:Then I won’t be able to go to narromine. It’s hardly a warranty issue since it was my fault

Yes Tasco would do it in a heart beat
I saw a pic of a Nightfarce that had been soot straight through the tube and it still performed perfectly

Re: How tough are Nightforce BR scopes?
If you need it I can send you a spare NF for Narromine. Since I won't be going.
Let me know if you need it.
I bent one once and cracked the glass. Knocked it off zero but came back on and worked faultlessly for six months till I bought a new one. The rep took the old one and sent it to the USA. They gave me a trade in on it because it still tracked etc.
They will look after you if it has any internal issues.
Cheers

Re: How tough are Nightforce BR scopes?
Thanks Chappo. After the second offer the wife commented what a good bunch of blokes are on that forum.
I can swap out the 8-32 off my 20 dasher but after a one month process that just ticked over into the start of month three I might finally be free from CBA tomorrow and if so an avalanche of overdue work lands on me.
Plans may change.
I’m sending the scope off to nightforce tomorrow. It’s not a warranty claim cos it’s not the scope’s fault but they will check the internals and if it’s stuffed tell me the cost. Then we can see whether the ssaa insurance is worth anything

Re: How tough are Nightforce BR scopes?
Big shout out to nightforce. Pulled it apart and put it back together and internals are all good. Can’t do much about the gouge out of the objective but they replaced the battery cover that took the brunt of the fall and had the coating smashed off
