Stuffed ??
Well yesterday I thought I had better get the rifles out of the safe and give them a wipe over. I haven’t touched them in over 12 months as I’ve had a small addiction to clay targets.
Well I noticed on one rifle, what looks like a crack in the receiver. It’s on both sides coming down from the top, under the mounts.
I’ll take it into the gun smith and get him to verify if it’s stuffed or what.

You could be very lucky to have found that luckily you didn't just grab it out of the safe and go for a shot, could have been a disaster.

Agreed, I'd send them a few pics - even just as an FYI.
Worst case they dont say much more than "thanks for the info"
But you might cop a freebie out of it too
So glad you looked her over before firing off a few!

Re: Stuffed ??
Beretta Aust were the importers up to a couple of years ago, don't know if they still are or not, but could be worth a email or two to find out. I would have thought that something like that would have to be a manufacturing fault, unless you smacked it with a bloody big hammer. I don't know what warrenty would be like after a few years, but it will be definitely be worth chasing up. You never know.

If it’s not just a once of it may trigger a recall, potentially save others who may not notice such a thing.Dunderi wrote:Agreed, I'd send them a few pics - even just as an FYI.

Hopefully it’s nothing more than a random issue.
If you get it fixed/replaced that would be a nice bonus.

Re: Stuffed ??
Well I got the chance to take it over to Allan Swann gunsmith this morning. Sure seems cracked, they will do a die check to confirm and do a report up for the importer and also my insurance. I guess I better think about what to replace it with now
Thanks Tim

Good you took it to a gunsmith to check out, will add weight to your claim with importer,Timmo84 wrote:Well I got the chance to take it over to Allan Swann gunsmith this morning. As to what to replace it with, I guess you should let us know what you already have, I am sure we can fill that new gap for you

Re: Stuffed ??
I would like to stick with the 270win only because I have a heap of Ammo and reloading gear already for it. Maybe a Browning X-bolt. I have a T-bolt varmint in 17hmr and love the feel on it.
