New darts trophy

Post by Camel »

Got asked to knock something up this year for a new singles comp we are going to run after our main competition. I had a scrounge up in the shed roof space and found a lump of rosewood and a reclaimed piece of Aust red cedar, the cedar came from an old cabinet out of an old shearing shed about 50 years ago, I reckon it was milled well over a hundred years ago

Cedar

Rosewood

Three 223 cases, three 70 gn HP 25cal and a length of 1/8” brass rod

Image

Shaped the shield and then spent a day sanding it down to 600grit, cut and shaped the back board,

Image

Then started making the darts, necked cases up to 25cal, then drilled and tapped the primer pockets st take the stems, cut and threaded brass rod for the tips and drilled hp bullets cut a thread in them and screw everything together

Image

Lots of layers of polish and it came together, today I cry and shaped a piece of Sally Wattle for the base, and put everything together

Quite pleased with how it turned out Image

Very inventive. Looks good, nice grain in the Rosewood.

Are you going to win it back?

Great work there mate. Only problem is you have set an expectation - better start thinking about what you are going to do next year.

New darts trophy

Post by Camel »

Got informed that I needed to do one for B grade as well. Took a couple of days to think up something different, but reasonably easy to do. Dug up an old shelf board, I think its an oak of some description, and this is what I came up with.
