6mm ????????
Re: 6mm ????????
Yeah, need to show the gunsmith. Its a Stevens 200 with centrefeed magazine, one that was attached to stock rather than action. Some kind of shallow cupped plate that a cartridge can sit attached to the action is what I'm looking at.

You wouldnt be the first to call me weird Con, I do plenty of weird stuff, well others think its weird, but it seems good at the time.Con wrote: ↑Sun Mar 31, 2019 9:15 am Camel,
I'd call you weird, but I've been trying to think how to do that to a Stevens 200. For varmints and punching holes, I like the single shots. I'm dirty on myself not grabbing a Savage target action when they were available. Then you could screw on/off 1" straight piped barrels and just play!!
Cheers...

I never really noticed the difference with shooting varmints just single shotting, usually start with a full mag, but then cant be stuffed topping it up after a while, its not that they are charging at you. Paper, well, that doesn't move around much, except when the fifth shot of a five shot group, then it always seems to dodge out to one side just as the projectile is about to hit.

Yeah, thats the plan, gunsmith doing the job makes Hoowa single shot thingamebob for his daughters rifles........I think Shouldn't be too hard to make one up anyway, a bit of bog putty or something similar, got a short bit of alloy flat, 1.5x3/4 inch somewhere in the shed, could probably even use that, or glue in the magazine follower with liquid steel, just a couple of weird ideas Con

Fill it with panel beaters bog and reshape with a dremel - That'd be the RAF Productions way.

it looks nice and clear, was watching a young fella on top of the hills behind Darre's place that is 1180m away, could nearly see the pimples on his chin.

Mark as long as you trust the tracking that will do fine at 1000 for the odd ‘just cos I can’ shoot. You can’t see bullet holes anyway. You just need to place your cross hair on the target but if you wind off for wind you need to trust it to come back again. You may also need to check the vertical adjustment range or your aiming point might be the flag on top of the mound

Well, I guess for now I will just have to trust the tracking, no way of checking it until its on the rifle. Will think on it a while.

See Glen, thats what I mean about fellas like you, you see something that will be a problem in the future and jump right in and help out, thanks you have saved me any number of hours and probably lot of cursing and swearing, not to mention the grey hair, oh, and probably a couple of dents in the shed wall.kickinback wrote: ↑Tue Apr 02, 2019 6:22 am

If had something around 38.1 x 19.05 mm . You might be able to do something with it.Camel wrote: ↑Tue Apr 02, 2019 6:44 amSee Glen, thats what I mean about fellas like you, you see something that will be a problem in the future and jump right in and help out, thanks you have saved me any number of hours and probably lot of cursing and swearing, not to mention the grey hair, oh, and probably a couple of dents in the shed wall.kickinback wrote: ↑Tue Apr 02, 2019 6:22 am

Found myself really liking the new on line PTA application process, applied on the 29th March, and the PTA turned up in my mail box this morning, it works.

Re: 6mm ????????
An update, got the call on Friday evening that this beast would be ready for pick up on Sat morning, so jumped in the ute and went over and picked it up, barrel ended up just a bit over 28 inches after a cut and shut and new chamber reaming along with a 1/4 inch taken off the muzzle and a re-crown job. It looks pretty flash, now gotta get a stock and a few other bits.

Re: 6mm ????????
Got a long box in the mail a couple days ago
Started opening up the barrel channel using 40 grit emery strip wrapped around some 7/8th alloy tube
Trial fitting and it’s getting there, still more to go, am aiming for 2 or 3 mm clearance
Trigger is showing “in transit “
