Re: Oh no
He’s not talking about the rifle or scope, he’s talking about his bank balance now. Or maybe what the Sako Collectors Club members might say when he screws a .17 cal barrel onto it
Nice pickup.

Re: Oh no
Like I said, some sort of Sako owners in-joke then...Branxhunter wrote: ↑Mon Jan 28, 2019 6:59 am He’s not talking about the rifle or scope, he’s talking about his bank balance now. Or maybe what the Sako Collectors Club members might say when he screws a .17 cal barrel onto it

Re: Oh no
Well it is missing the front and rear sight
As well as the stock seems to have been refinished.
The bolt handle and safety looks like all the blueing has been removed.
So not really a collector Marcus. Just a tidy up and rebarrel should not offend to many people.
I am just going to run factory ammo until a set of dies turn up not real sure about the Period scope though.
4x and old eyes may not go to well together.
At the last gathering of like minded people Piper235 brought along an L46 in 22 "K" Hornet that he had refurbished I and Marcus fell in love with it.
I decided I just had to get one then Piper came shooting with me one afternoon and this time he came with an L46 Manlicher in 22 Hornet.
The die was cast I HAD to have an obsolete rifle in an obsolete cartridge next a 218 and then a 7x33 .

Re: Oh no
Didn't take you long .
The scopes seem to sell quickly and bring OK money, so it shouldn't be a problem.
Glue a bit of wood on the forend, its only an old Sako .

Re: Oh no
It is like it was meant to be Bruce
If that Daystate had a Walnut stock it may have been a different story.
Hopefully have it ready for late April so I can poke some holes in some red dogs.

Re: Oh no
Pecar went boonty up in 2009 because they refused to change their scopes to suit the modern market. They kept the tradition of a scope used for hunting Bavarian hogs in the era of the third Reich complete with EAW claw mounts right up till the lights went out.
A shame they didn't hang about for just a few more years as they would be at the fore front of the off centered reticles in the first focal plane. That was their bread and butter. Totally in vogue now with the KBW crowd.
Khales allmost followed suit but changed their line, and price tag, to meet new trends.

Re: Oh no
I got to fondle the dainty little Sako Rihimaki and the picks do not do the rifle justice.
James did ask if it came in a mans calibre but that was after he shot a couple of rabbits with his 270 win
The Pecar was unmounted and placed in the cupboard very early on and a Bightron S11 Bigsky 2.5-10x40 in Optilock lows was mounted up.
I reckon this setup weighed 450 grams lighter than the Pecar.
Some Browning factories were procured and away we went on a Rabbit safari.
No headspace issues with these cases as they have thick rims and shoulders like a Brown Snake
Yep it worked even with a 3lb trigger that had more creep than Halloween.
No groups were shot and apart from the sighters all 33 grain Vmax were launched at critters.
Some shots connected others while others didn`t but it was fun
With the last 10 shots being kills everytime.
