I had been considering a carbon fibre barrel but after some more research they are not worth it

Yeah, I dont know anything about them really, you see a few advertised here and there, the odd write up, but I am not convinced to spend the amount of cash they want for them when there are perfectly excellent stainless barrels available, some at pretty good prices. :D

The reason I was considering one was purely for weight.
From what I have read Carbon fibre is as strong or stronger than steel by weight not volume so same size barrel in carbon fibre is lighter but not as rigid, also it acts as an insulator so traps heat.
I haven’t seen them take over target shooting which they would if there was a benefit.
Looks like I’ll be building a varminter with a lighter barrel
