Australian TR team at ND
prior to travelling to New Zealand, this weekend the Australian TR team will be training, tuning etc at 1000yds, on the Narromine Dubbo Rifle Range.
fortunately we have had a few showers in recent times, to settle the dust, change the appearance to an overall green tinge and promote the weed crop.
hopefully it is a positive and rewarding exercise which will lead to success in New Zealand.
cheers

Re: Australian TR team at ND
Apparently they are expecting similar conditions at ND to what is predicted in the shaky isles.

Re: Australian TR team at ND
Maybe the could not see the targets because of rain. No doubt there would be wind with it as well. That should help them with N/Z. conditions. Good to see that there is rain happening in the area.
Cheers,
Trevor.

There has been a could sou'wester blowing all morning down this way, I would presume it will either be up there by now, or is on the way. Yesterday the aircon was going, today I am thinking of getting the heater going. The climate is changing daily now it seems

Re: Australian TR team at ND
a typical New Zealand weather pattern at ND. ( low cloud, very overcast and no sun).
initial set up, parking and head quarters.
shooting began - gusting 10-20 knot northerly
Australian team at work - quite a few took advantage of our new labradar - for the velocities I observed from a number of rifles, all were in the 3010 - 3040 fps range with many ES's being just under or over 10fps - AMAZING CONSISTENCY !!
surprising to me - all used 8208 powder .
MORE IMPORTANTLY - IT WAS WONDERFUL TO SEE THE NUMBER OF YOUNG SHOOTERS IN THE AUSTRALIAN TEAM
then as forecast, the rain, lightening and winds became heavier and erratic before the storm passed.
note - apparently even saturated flags will flap and dance, if the winds are strong enough.
then as forecast by our wyalong weather correspondent (mark), the south westerlies kicked in for a while with the same strength.
then, just to challenge the coaches and sight winders, more winds from the north.
it will be interesting to see if more friendly and encouraging conditions, eventuate tomorrow !!!
DID I mention NO DUST TODAY !!!
