Hi all, Just wondering if a barrel from a rem 700 L/Action would swap into a Surgeon action without any mods. Anyone have any info would be appreciated. Cheers

Surgeon 1086 long action
Re: Surgeon 1086 long action
Threads are the same as is tenon length. Headspace check as usual but i cannot see why not. Short action barrels would fit as well.

Re: Surgeon 1086 long action
Many thanks tonyz,
I was hoping it was going to work as I have already bought the action. The brl is coming off a short action to go onto the surgeon l/a.
Hopefully there won't be any major issues with swapping it over. Wait and see!!!

Re: Surgeon 1086 long action
Even it dose fit why would you want to screw a Rem barrel in custom Surgeon action?
I only ask because you can go to all the trouble putting it together and it doesn't shoot.
Rem barrels regularly have none concentric chambers and bad bores.
The barrel is what makes a gun shoot well.
After what Tonyz has said about the Bergara barrels I would look at one
of those.

Re: Surgeon 1086 long action
I never mentioned what brand the brl was!!!
Let's just say I wouldn't go to the trouble of using a rem brl on the surgeon, and leave it at that.
That would be just plain sacrilege, wouldn't it!
Or stupidity.
Cheers

Re: Surgeon 1086 long action
Agree on the Bergara barrel suggestion. The one i have has been pulled from the Deviant and put aside for my HG for future development. It is without doubt one of the most impressive barrels i have had to date.
As for screwing a 700 barrel into a Surgeon action, it really is none of our affair. Teepee's action, his choice. Everyone builds to a budget. Action now, cheap barrel now until funds allow or the right barrel appears. Slim pickings as far as barrels go out there and what is out there ain't cheap. Bergaras as expected, are not as cheap as when i bought mine. Who whould have guessed that?

Hi all,
No it's not a rem brl, and no offence taken.
It's a Lilja I'm taking off a short action 700 in 7mm/300 wsm. I want the longer action to try and get the longer projectiles to feed through a mag.
Cheers
