New Barnard p

Post by mistit »

Not quite , I called into lrp on Tuesday and ordered a new Barnard p Brux barrel and chambered in 6 mm long dasher
Now for the wait

Stock only at this stage

My rave for the day and a shout out for Matt

Every gun I’ve seen Matt build or any of the many barrels he has done for me all shot incredibly well and were spot on build quality
Better than any other Smith I’ve used
And I’ve had a couple of really bad experiences and some very good ones
Look forward to this one

I find it interesting you’ve gone back to a Barnard. In fact, it’s quite a recommendation.

Well Trev , all it is
A 6 mm dasher stuck in far enough to headspace / crush fit a 6x47 lap case
Stick a separate neck reamer in same diameter as your dasher or larger depending on what size neck you want , sink that in so you can use the long neck of the 6 x47 lap and fi reform it same as you would any ackley chamber
Have whidden make you a die the same as your design and presto a 6 mm long dasher
I should add Trev that obviously it won't make the difference between hitting something and not but I already had the die from whidden
Unlike the swift improved which I really do think gives you an advantage over most cartridges when loaded flat out

So you end up with a sort of AI 6x47lap? Same neck length. How much more powder?

I’ve done three in a row that I’d call overbore then a pipsqueak and currently I’d go with just right for the AI Swede but I can see myself ending up back to “efficiency ‘ in future and trying to fool myself that less is more again

I’m surprised Jacko has given you time to do anyone else’s work

Kickin as you know I have owned most high quality actions without listing them and looking like a dickhead but the Barnard takes some beating for what I use it for
