went and ordered intermediate tyres today.
given two choices of BF Goodrich or Pirelli. both are taller so will give me a bit more clearance. the BF tyres are more off road aggressive looking but the tyre shop owner said they aren't as grippy on road, in fact he took them off his car after going sideways on a roundabout.
only heard good things about bfg 4wd tires the past few years, I will be getting a set of KM2's for the patrol soon. As for going sideways you just need to remember your driving around in a 2ton + high center of gravity 4wd not a sports car. The cynic in me is thinking that there is probably a higher profit margin in pirelli tires
Prefer BFG's myself, have them on my 100series. Can't say I have ever had traction issues on the bitumen with them. I reckon the 100 would be on its side before it slid on bitumen.
one of the guys at our club runs bfg on his cruiser ute.
he had one tyre [a couple weeks ago] bulge out the sidewalls ,inside and out,he had a 6" x 2" x 2.5" bulge on the outside and a bigger one on the underside.luckily he was on the range when he found it.he frequently does long miles to go hunting.[for weeks at a time] if that had blown on the road.......
ill stick with me kumho allterrains.
Does the colorado have the traction and stability control the dmax does?
If so sideways will not be an issue.
This is not an endorsement for either tyre

Hmmm. Knowing my propensity for fucking things up you still think I should buy the sideways tyres. I think not!

As long as the letter boxes aren't beside you, you'll be ok.

When you get pricing give Ian Edgar a call at Tyrepower Notting Hill.
My family and I have been buying tyres there for almost 30 years and his prices are generally better (99% of the time) than any of the other big chain outlets. He'll order in anything special you want.
I'm not affiliated with this outlet just a very happy long term customer.
PS. This place used to fit all the HSV tyres back in the day.
