Too late. Already added the yeast!

I'm trying to get the temp up so it kicks off nicely. Not so easy with the revised technique I'm using but it did save a lot of messing around and should yield some better flavour.

Meanwhile, trying to get the Apple Pie ABV right. Going back for a resample.

Basics of a still setup.

I'll leave it to Lonerider to explain all the bits and bobs in more detail. But that's a starter.

thats pretty good raven,it more or less explains it all. [for that type of still]
if you keep the temp of the still between 79c and 82c,your making drinkable alc.
what we do [and distilleries dont] is throw away the first bit.its got all the benzines and ethanol's [?] [bad shit] in it.
the big guys dont throw it because they make so much.its what gives you that thumping headache in the morning.
you wont get that from small produce home brew.
tims recipe is corn meal, barley mix[?] sugar and water boiled up.when its cooled he adds the yeast, pretty simple really.
if you just did sugar and water ,you get a simple but rough alcohol.
if you ran that and add corn, the flavour is different, you can taste the corn.[sweet]
barley is different again, and when you combine all that, its something else again.
different people run different mix's.
corn,barley,wheat,rye,rice.
if its got sugar or starch in it,you can boil it up add yeast [of most any kind] and make alc.
corn will be tims main,so 70% or so the rest barley.sugar is the drum size = so many kg.[i run 7kg per 25 ltr x 8 drums = 56kg per 200ltr]

I figured those two videos pretty much summarised it within Missed's attention span (assuming he could handle the accent).

As to how us non-Apalachian do it at home is another story.

Damn, my mash hasn't kicked off yet. Hopefully it's just slow as I didn't have the temp as high as I normally do (30C, currently 26C).

dont worry raven, itll start by the morning.
in my 44,the yeast doesnt start till the next morning.[properly] even in mid summer.
but i just sprinkle a packet of turbo over the top.
when i was using the 26ltr drums,it was starting before i got the lid on.[sometimes foaming out of the bubbler]

itll kick off when its ready, dont worry.

Half a turbo into 27L. Still no action. Hopefully by the morning.

By my understanding I don't do a stripping run. Got a T500 reflux system.

And that came from a standard wash 21L water 8kg dextrose
