See what you guys have done !!!!!!!! had my 260 converted to a 6.5 Creedmoor
almost finished 260.jpg
now I have dies and other stuff to sell off,,I loaded some 140gr nosler custom match behind 40grs of 2209 handloads for it tonight, and also have a box of factory hornady 120gr match ammo to see how it shoots.

That looks very nice!

You probably described it before, but could you remind me of the details

it's a stiller spectre action, with a McMillian a3a5 stock, atlax works bottom metal, ai double stack mag, and a schmidt and bender pm2 scope.oh and a chanlyn cut rifled barrel. and the chamber is the tighter 6.5 match Creedmoor with a .295 neck so most factory brass and ammo is ok to use.

Very very nice. You should be proud of that.

A tad out of my budget/expertise though

You rechambered a 260 to creedmore? So less powder is better?

maybe less powder is better? that is a good point! ,, well I shot it today, and it's more accurate than my 260rem was . with the same barrel, simply set back by my dealer gunsmith mate. I shot a five shot group at 100m into .3 where as the 260rem was good for .6 with the same projectile. Now I have had this happen before, and here's what happened , I used to have a rem700 in 223rem built on a 700 action, and it was a 3/4 inch rifle, then the barrel was fitted to an ultimatum action which is more ridged, the rifle is now a sub .4 moa performer, I think the case design (less powder and other things) of the creedmoor creates less barrel vibration and this is why it's so accurate.

Nice rifle Lee.

A few things i would like to know is what brass you used in the Creedmoor, LR or newer Lap brass with SR primers and what powder and projectile?

I am getting 1/3 inch groups for 5 shots at 100m with 40grs of 2209 with hornady brass large rifle primers(cci) and using Nosler custom comp 140gr projectiles, I tried this load at 300m and it's grouping into 2 inches . My chamber has a .295 case neck so you don't have to neck turn your brass and factory ammo is ok to fire in it, where as the standard neck is .295. I really thought that I was wasting my time converting to the creedmoor but as I said before I am hooked, also I have known for years that the 6.5 140grs projectiles are better at bucking the wind, and when I fired my 223rem with 69gr projectiles in the wind and the windage was about 40% more on the same day
