Be interesting to see what your max is, some are getting near 3250 with a 105 berger from a 6x47.

Did a ladder test on my 6x47 on the weekend and 40.8gn of 09 gave 3230fps
30'' barrel and 105 Bergers.
It is so easy to shoot in an F Class set up after using the 7 SAUM for the last 2 yrs.

Interesting read above and if one was to pick a barrel length you would have to say 28 inches is it if it were speed alone. Shame accuracy tests weren't done.


The chart below shows data from PRS shooters over the last number of years. Going on the blogs data most barrels were between 26 and 28 inches but 24 was not uncommon and most likely are those that contributed to the low end of the range. The two 6x47 Laps i tried in 30 inch tubes both produced their best accuracy at 3070 fps with 107 SMKs which falls right at average on this chart. Not too far beyond that at around 3100 fps cases lost primer pockets after a couple of firings.
Going off this chart, which is gathered from a large number of shooters over quite some years, the Creedmoor shows little to nothing gained over the 6x47 Lap or XC. I believe that is from poorer quality brass and we should see those numbers rise as Lapua Creedmoor brass makes its way into this data. I would say it would have to be worth 30 fps on average at least.
