Best places to buy scopes?
Just doing some research and trying to find out if there is a (go too) place that has quality scopes online?
I wouldn't say top of the range just more like bang for your buck if you know what I mean.
Cheers guys.

Re: Best places to buy scopes?
Varies a bit. Magnum Sports have a good selection online but their good specials sometimes are listed in the SSAA Magazine. Cleavers have decent selection as well. Best advice is work out which scope you want and then start shopping (looking around). Usedguns can have some good stuff at times as well. AHN also throws up some good buys (here as well).
Whatever you decide to do make sure you ask on here first so we can all give you advice.

Most people will have an opinion and I always take them on board.

Re: Best places to buy scopes?
Sounds like you have spent a bit of time looking and deciding on realistic price ranges Shep - I think you are pretty close on all three.
Depending on what reticle you prefer a second hand Sightron SIII in 6-24x50 or 8-32x56 would fit the bill for your target and hunting (I assume long range dealing up and down). The good thing is you might even find you have $400-600 left over from your budget. I have a 6-24x50 SIII on my old Omark.
I have a couple of Zeiss scopes on my spotlighting rifles - an older 6.5-20x50 Conquest on the .22-250, and a 5-25x50 HD5 on the .20-222. Both have a duplex reticle. Second hand you can run across them for $800-1000. A couple of friends have the new Sightron with an illuminated reticle (might be the STAC, Missed? Crackers?) that they seem very happy with.
For your .22 the field is wide open, and at your $200-300 price point I think you should find a good one. Make sure you get one with AO, or with parallax set for shorter distances, or decide whether you are comfortable adjusting a 'fixed' parallax scope yourself (I have done a couple of Leupys).
