Nickel Plated Brass

I acquired a box or two of some nickel coated rounds when I picked up my 270win some months ago. Now I've shot it all I'm looking to reload it.

Using Google I got lots of different opinions on nickel and reloading, mostly based on backyard engineering myths...

So what does the combined expert knowledge of AusVarmint think about reloading nickel coated brass? Should I become paranoid about nickel flakes grinding away in my barrel OR that it'll destroy my reloading dies OR that the brass will work harden and split in no time?

Application: General reloading for hunting, not trying to kill two adjoining paper fibres.

Just load the buggers as per normal brass, your second paragraph says it all. It wont make bugger all difference.

You can’t anneal it and apparently it work hardens faster than uncoated brass but until it does just load and shoot as per normal

I have some for my 300 wsm and it’s lasted years. Cos I hardly ever shoot the gun. !

Load it till it splits, then turf it. It can be handy if you need to visually identify two separate loads.
