Yes i am a machinist by trade and yes i do have my own lathe but the machinery in the pics arn't mine. All of the work in the pictures was carried out in X WSSM's workshop. The reason for this is he is the motorvator behind this project and he also has a top notch mill in there as well as the lathe plus all the steel supplies that were needed for the mandrel, recoil lug etc.(you will see this in pics to come). Will post more pics tonight and we will be firing it off the bench this weekend to see how things have hopefully improved.

After a fair bit of thought we deciced that the recoil lug tikka gave us could do with a bit of help. X WSSM (Stu) had a bit of bedding compound just laying around and we were definately going to bed the action so a new recoil lug was needed.
Once again Stu plunged into his large supply of steel and pulled out a piece of gauge plate which was cut to size on the cut off saw. Right about now we crunched the numbers and came up with the magic number of 5.00mm for the thikness of the recoil lug. If all went to plan this would give us a headspace of 0.001".
After looking at the lug already on the action it was decided that the new lug would be stepped and it would mate up with the existing one. The only problem was the existing one wasn't square to the action, so into the vice on the mill we go.

Thats some impressive work there!
Give me a control circuit to wire, or a fault to find or something and I will be sweet.... put me in front of a lathe and I am stumped.
Its been a long time since year 10 metal work....
I might have a play around with the lathe in the workshop at the plant if we ever get enough time to wire the thing up.
