About a month before the gathering of like minded people at Yass I sent away the Hatcher stock on my .20-222 to get pillar bedded, expecting it to be away for around 2 weeks, and that I would have it back to take to Yass. Was not to be......

The LGS rang me yesterday to say it had come back from ZCR, so on my way home from work I dropped by and picked it up. I re-mounted the scope and headed out to my range to re-zero it.

After the first shot to zero (was ~2" further to the right) these were the next three shots:

I'm very happy with how it has come together.

That's a very good bedding job. The joys of flat surfaces!

Those three shots were with the working load of 24.1gn BM1 with the 32gn z-max. The rifle still shoots good groups with a bit heavier charges but I suspect they are pushing the limit. Load development was also done during the cooler months so I'm a bit mindful of increased pressures with higher ambient temperatures.

Wow!! That is mite perrrrty there pardner!!.
I haven't been a fan of timber for a long time. Been synthetic stainless all the way. But i would make an exception for that.
There is something special about 20/222s that only those who own one can understand. Yet to see or hear of one that didn't shoot.

That should put some cash into the 'next gun purchase fund' and fun at same time. :)
Wish we had a bounty up here.
Would have to body shot them though to stand a chance of retaining something resembling a scalp.
