Yeah, that wasnt much of a fun event for me, I never could get the hang of using one of them things on clays, didnt go too bad on the ducks when I was a few years younger. Funny how when you are hungry and need a feed it makes you shoot just that much better.

Gnome might help with the hand pumping, seeing as he wants to burn calories.......

I had a hand pump for about 3 months and couldn't find a cylinder fast enough. Depends on how much you are shooting it, I s'pose ......

Okay, well the magic number in the UK for an air rifle is 12 ft/lb. Anything below this level is available to the Poms without having to get a "Firearms Certificate", which is a bit like a licence issued to them by the police. So 12 ft/lb and less is popular in the UK. There is also a Field Target class for springers with less than 12 ft/lb.

So if yours is the downrated UK version, it will be about 11.2 ft/lb. See the link for a review.....

However, it is more likely to be an "export" model with better power. Put it over the chronny at the daisy picking, and together with the pellet weight, someone will be able to calculate it for you. I doubt if it is the de-tuned pommy version.

Don't stress too much about the power. I have taken more bunnies with my sub 12 fpe springers than I have with my FAC PCPs. When I say sub 12, I have one at 10.4 and the other at 11.1.

You'll need around 4 fpe to penetrate bunny skulls. I have used mine with success out to 55m. Don't get too hung up with the BS about high velocity and power. Pellet tend to destabilise at higher velocities and spiral in flight rather than provide you with a smooth trajectory. The magic number seems to be about 800 -890 fps.

I bought a 1st gen Fx Royale 400 with a LW barrel. The original owner sold it becos it was an 'inaccurate piece of shit'. I chronied it at 1025 fps with 18 grain JSBs and it shot like a 410. I cranked it right back to 800 fps and it will now shoot 5 cent pieces at 50m day in and day out. Currently set at 830 fps for a 14 grainer to achieve a flatter trajectory and still performing like a hero.

Thanks mate, not too worried about max speed, was merely curious as why they are rated in fpe rather than fps.
I picked it up on the weekend and can see with a lot of practice I will enjoy it and get the results that I hope, practice is fun no, thank christ Daisy took his air bottle down to Yass, he filled it a couple of times for me.
