In Zimbabwe. Having 3 nights at Hwange Safari Lodge which is on a concession beside Hwange N.P. There are hunting concessions in this area as well.kickinback wrote:Living the dream Bruce. Well done.

Hwange N.P. is 14000kn sq and established 1928. Estimated 5000 elephants originally and now 45000. There is large numbers of other game as well. This is due to a network of bores supplying water which has allowed snimals greater area to graze. The bores have recently been converted to solar powered.
They also have viewing hides at some bore sites. There are a few small fenced camping enclosures that you can pay to camp in, must be in by 6:00pm. Shower, flush toilet and covered tables. Check the lion proof fence .
Saw : lions, Waterbuck, Bushbuck, Gemsbuck, Eland galloping away, Steenbuck, Sable, Wildebeest plus the the usual ones.
Heading back to Botswana tomorrow.

How do you keep the wildlife from walking through your campsite. This fellawas well behaved and stepped around the solar panels. He really wanted the plant at the front of the tent.Brad Y wrote:Mmm I remember Botswana. Kudu chops over the grill and nice cold Windhoek... darn tasty
This is at Kwai Bedouin Camp, 50km north of Mourn, Botswana. No fences, solar power, gas fridge and glamping it in tents.

Re: Botswana and surrounds
This leopard was sitting on the road. Didn't care about us parked 20m away. Then went and stalked some impala but missed its target. It was all but dark then and it walked beside the vehicle for a couple of minutes. Just amazed that it barely looked at us.

There was four of these guys on the road the next morning when we were headed out for a days game viewing. Again 3 came within a few meters of the vehicle but mum ran wide.
Every day has had an exceptional experience.- stinkitup

Great stuff Bruce. Africa is an amazing place. Hows your morning walk going .
I remember the only fences while there were just 2 cables or wires high up to stop the elephant's and giraffe from eating all the trees.
Thats a beautiful leopard...we didn't see them but could hear them.
Amazing and thanks for sharing.
