Lets Kick This One Around
Re: Lets Kick This One Around
Use the 17AckHornet data, charge for charge. The larger 19cal bore, and presumably shorter/fatter 32gr pill compared to 30gr 17cal should keep everything in the 'safe zone' to start working upwards.
This assumes like case capacity.

Re: Lets Kick This One Around
Fired a round loaded with 11.0gr of CFE BLK, no difficulty with bolt opening sign of pressure. The load might be to light of the case and this could also cause pressure problems.
Just thinking that the difference between the two loads I posted earlier being K hornet & 17 AH the difference between bullet size from 17 to 22 cal is 0.260" reckon I might try and split the difference and see where that takes me, if I don't re post you will know I stuffed up

Re: Lets Kick This One Around
Looking at the release date for CFE BLK and the update disc i think tells the story Johno. CFE BLK was announced Nov 2016 and released for sale in Jan-Feb 2017. The data on the update disc was current December 2016. I'm thinking they data just wasnt available at the time the disc was put together. Maybe only a couple of months in it.
Lots of other new stuff (for me though) such as Re26 and ELD-X (M) projectiles. Still no 20 Dasher for Trev though.
Re: Lets Kick This One Around
Can you get a relative quickness for the new powder, and manually change an existing to match?

Re: Lets Kick This One Around
One could assume if you knew the burn rate of CFE BLK you could modify maybe CFE 223 or create a new powder on its own.
I havent gone that far down the dark arts path with burn rate modification in QuickLoad so not sure i'd be comfortable playing. Someone with more experience would be able to I imagine.
As an aside, i see the Neconos site states an annual update to Quickload so a new version wont be too far away (December i'd be betting). Still a bit too far though for your needs Johno.

I understand your reluctance mate. It can be said if a certain member had not knocked his glass of Ozzo & bowl of kalamata's over the puter said certain member would have have been able to do what he suggests you do

I played a tad fiddling with burn rates to match observed velocity ... fun ... but I think the chronographs aren't reliable enough to get a really good number determined. Some have done it though on a batch to batch basis and brought predictions to within 5fps.
But its Johno ...

Re: Lets Kick This One Around
Your suggestions worked great in the 270, "just grab a desert spoon of any powder and pour it in the case, any bullet 90-150gr your good to go" worked a treat
