I certainly hope it is passed through, but Ill wait to celebrate till the ink is dried on the documents. :D

I wonder how many gunshops are so used to asking for names and addresses when buying ammo, that they will now just do it as part of their sale anyway, even when it is repealed. From what I remember is was supposed to be aimed at pistol ammo, to stop drive by shootings in South Western Sydney, as if that would work, and was then moved to cover all ammo.

Heres hoping. :D

I am with Camel on this.

Time and time again, we've been screwed over by politicians (of all persuasions).

I'll keep the champagne on ice for now.

The way I read it they are only getting rid of the requirement to record the address of the purchaser not the entire thing.
Plenty of common sense amendments in it, reclassification of lever action shotguns isn't a win but far better than it could have been. If I have read it correctly even those with 8 shots that will be reclassified as cat D will be allowed to keep them.
I think the biggest win is this isn't SFFP legislation, this has been introduced by the same mob that gave us the ammo bill in the first place. I didn't think I would see the day when common sense and firearms legislation could be used to describe anything introduced by any of the major parties but looks like we have finally arrived there.

It was late when I read it but yeah it reads like 8 shots is fine until you go to sell it, it gets re classified or has to be modified to 5 shots and goes as cat B

Like others have said its a step in the right (kind of) direction but I'll hold off cracking a celebration drink until the inks dried
