Re: been to the range.
last week at 300 was a shocker, still trying to get a handle on wind/mirage
82.2
today at 600 wasnt much better.but the wind was a bit easier to read [not by much]
92.2
6 months away from a range hasnt helped me any.

Re: been to the range.
Don't worry mate it's all good was 900 for me first stage mirage and wind didn't match up 51.1 Second stage much better at 55.2 but should have been better with the conditions. One thing I can pin the first stage down to is my ammo was a bit of a hodge podge in weights which caused some elevation. oh well have new calipers that aren't inaccurate so that will help.

Re: been to the range.
Been a couple of weeks away from the range since 900 but Saturday was 500 down here, Conditions were reasonable, cold but reasonable. Wind was a fish tale but so long as you watched it was readable. Stage 1 not too bad a score 56.5, got a good patch in the middle and smacked 3 x's in a row, last shot 5 that was all me, watched the flag swing down the range, took some wind off but didn't aim a little higher to compensate for the down the range wind, DOH.
Second stage started good 6 6 X then missed a wind pick up, 4 5 cost me, didn't drop a pt after that finished with a 57.3 I think that's the highest centre count I've shot in two stages.

Re: been to the range.
there was only 3 shooters last sunday,so we had turn about pulling targets and shooting.
800 first up and 600 to follow, just a practice day.
cant remember what score for what range.
this sunday theres no shoot, might go down and put the replacement number posts in. [might not also]
purchased a couple of upgrades for Tiny new davies trigger and a hatchers thumbhole stock.
will be good to get it together

Re: been to the range.
All I'm going to say is that lower light SA is a bastard range and very testing of a wind readers capabilities! My gun shot well though and was happy to part ways with it after a two 15 shot 90's at 700 and 800m and a 119 in a 20 shot 900m then a 82 in a very rough 900m 15 shot match. Congrats to NSW who won the teams event. Looking forward to them hosting it in 2019. Now home and working on building a new rifle!

Didn't stay for the lead up or queens. Yeah I spoke to Geoff Willis tonight and he said the same thing. Bastard of a range.

Hmm let me see Lambing/Calving and WINTER or go north to shoot, as much as I would like to ain't gonna happen knowing my luck I'd go to leave and it would bloody snow. But am getting away in June for the nationals in Brisbane again this year.

Re: been to the range.
It only takes one queens and a badge and your well and truly hooked, the c grader that won last year shot a score that would have got 3rd in B Grade.

They call the Lower Light range the house of pain. You have to keep on your toes with the wind.Brad Y wrote: ↑Thu May 04, 2017 10:51 pm All I'm going to say is that lower light SA is a bastard range and very testing of a wind readers capabilities!
