Not personally Barry but I'm lead to believe that the distance specified on each model is directly related to the IR LEDS (number of) supplied as part of the unit. So if you use an aftermarket IR torch you can get more distance with the units rated for lower distances.
I looked into one a fair while back but decided to try and make my own. I succeeded of sorts just haven't fine tuned the setup. Must get around to that.
Would be interested in seeing how you go if you get one.
Cheers,
Rob

Thanks Rob - see what here , not overly keen but then again it could be an improvement over standing up the back of a Navara holding a heavy spotlight for hours on end

I've not used one in the field Barry but if you think waving a spotlight around is hard, try waving your rifle around all night, that is what you'll end up with, with any sort of rifle mounted illumination. Unless of course you're going to use Night vision goggles.
I use a Pred9x and a headlamp as well when I'm on foot. I use the headlamp to spot foxes and then switch the Pred9x on for the shot, it works very well.

Thanks Keith - oops just about ordered one from u know where - Chris gave me some very positive comments.
That aside , on the back of the Navara, the rifle will be on a bipod , carpet layer shooting "bench" cushioned Chivas in insulated flask. Let's see what transpires in any case but appreciate your thoughts on my aged bones

Good stuff. If it doesn't work out I'm sure you'll be able to offload it.barryb wrote: ↑Wed Apr 12, 2017 8:20 pm Thanks Keith - oops just about ordered one from u know where - Chris gave me some very positive comments.
