Trevor's fold out table project (pic heavy)
G'day Simpson
Trevor supplied the tressel and timber , most of the materials i have used so far (except the carpet ) have followed me home from various work sites the brass came from when i was involed in re-building high voltage transformers ,stainless came from a food factory that i was working at , the steel stripping came from when i was working with ship turbos ,aluminium checker plate is left overs from when i buit my tool trolley ! so i would not even know where to start ,
I am still having trouble sourcing some 400 series stainless rod /4140 steel rod in 3/16 of inch to built some custom cleaning rods ,
Think Dr G want's me to do some drawings/instructions , but right now i am just free styling this project ,
still going to run a idea past trevor , to put a removable rifle vise/rest on one side for cleaning/holding a second rifle ?
I get bored some times and need to stuff around and build stuff ,and help out mates

the comp guys at the range used those trestles with a piece of carpet attached as their cleaning benches, thats where i got the ideaof using one. Bench rifles havw flat bottomed 3 inch forends so sit nicely on the cleaning bench but the butt hangs out there and could easily be knocked off. I like the way you think

Portable Bench Rest
That is one Porsche designed shooting bench.
I was at our (small) farm yesterday and had to try to make do with shooting using the cars boot as a rest.
Given my shooting skills, major waste of .222 factory ammo.
The quality ,what with checker plate and the rest is above my more modest needs.
Are you able to give an appx quote to make another one!
Sure I'm not the only one interested.

went to inspect it today, HBs work and skill has taken it beyond what i thought I was going to get.
It will do its intended job admirably. If you wanted to get anal you may choose a better trestle. There is some sideways give between the frame and the legs built into the trestle itself. Sure, Andree could re inforce it to take this out but then I couldnt fold down the legs and fit it in the boot (the whole "portable" point of the excercise!)
wait to you see the one he intends building for himself before you put orders in. If the design works then ...veeerrrryyyy niiiice
