the IBS has granted approval and support for the possible future establishment of an International 600yd BR Postal Match Competition between Australian clubs/competitors and agreeable American clubs.

ND members met today to discuss the introduction of 600yd BR.

a unanimous decision, has ensured that once we get targets, it will be regular match in our yearly programme on the 600yd weekend.

ie 600yd F class/TR on the Saturday and 600yd BR on the Sunday.

and yes, the Thursday LRBR match prior to the SCC will now be a 600yd BR competition.

thanks again to "all them" Nth Queenslanders for their insight and dedication in overcoming the nay sayers who opposed the introduction of 600yd BR in this country.

Hmmm i believe Cessnock range is approved for benches (portable). Still use a range of electronic and paper targets.

hi ryan

any chance that there might be sufficient interest at Cessnock to give IBS 600BR a trial?

I ordered a 100 targets, once they arrive, if you wish I can send a few to you.

cheers

I think so. I should be able to russel up shooter. Rod would prob be happy to have a crack. Prob a few on here as well Gary and James perhaps. I need to try and get out tomorrow morning i can ask.

Will need to find out if we could organise a day in the program.

If we could get 5 targets up and 10 shooters probably work

Cant shoot 1k but 600 would be great.

We will be running outs before the normal f class match, at our range that starts at 1. We have from 10am to 1pm most Saturdays that we can shoot it without having to find a hole in the program.

ND will host its' initial IBS 600yd BR match on Sunday the 16th of April.

Saturday will be the regular TR/F Class match at 600yds.

With the end of daylight saving, I am assuming we will kick off a brief (depends on numbers, visibility and mound dampness)) "shoot at markers on the mound sighting period at approx. 8.30am.

Followed by the commencement of the IBS 600yd BR sighting period/then record target.

As we will not have the 600 BR frames completed by then, the 1000yd BR frames will have to be "bodgied" to use on the day, so I am guessing at this stage (once again depending on numbers attending) it will be a 2 target match.

well, we could not wait.

so today, following the T/R f class, two of the new 600BR targets were quickly taped onto a 300m frame.

2 benches were pulled out of the shed, no target crew, no sighter target, just a shot at the mound and a couple more at the IBS 600yd BR targets.

VERDICT- yep, all of what the NTH Queenslanders have said is true!!!!!!!!!!!

600yd BR is a very challenging and addictive discipline. :rifle2: :rifle2:

as we both just wound our 1000yd settings down around18 minutes and did not change scopes (both using 20X) seeing the bullets holes did not happen (and was not expected), but the 15 knot SW and running mirage kept things interesting, to say the least with all shots taken as per IBS 1000yd BR ie "blind".

obviously, the use of sighter target prior to the record target would be advantageous, but today, the emphasis was on just seeing what the target looked like through the scope.

now, to get ready for the 1st 600BR match on easter sunday.

BTW- rob rainbow and robbie mackay, in unison stated, that 600yd BR is now a perfect excuse and reason to build another LRBR rifle. :D :D :D :D
