G'day all & trevor
well up date on how we are progressing !
this morning started by put the stell strips in the bench all drilled and taped out ready to fit the tressel on !
Image
then we used the special made capitive bolts to mount the tressel to bench top
Image
this is how it looks all bolted together !
Image
now will show some pic to explain the capitive bolt idea ,same thing as your camera/spotting scope to tripod
frist one is bolt at rest/or not screwed into any thing
Image
yes that is one of the bolts, behind the thread sticking out, the re-duced shaft on thread allows it to slide up and down ,here is a pic to show how it would look when screwed into bench top !
Image
Well trevor mentioned that the timber was soft ,and his rest would dig into the timber ,so he sugested carpet ,so on went the carpet !
Image
Then i had a idea ,sent trevor a sms , and he like it ! so we mounted a piece of aluminium sheet to the top of the bench ,to help with the rest staying steady !
Image
it's aluminium checker plate , but the checker treads are mounted facing down ,so the rest has a nice flat surface to sit on
i did not like the way the carpet finished on the top of the bench so i place a steel edge all round for a better finish
Image
and i think thats it for the top half of this project , now to start the feet tomorrow !
Hope you like it so far trevor ?

One question, Trevort; are you going to put in provision for a stubby holder mount for when the shooting is finished?

just had another thought. If i mark where the rest feet sit on the plate I can drill a little hole to catch them, it will be real stable then!

Every paddock will become a shooting range with this and a target frame
