HW 55 T

Post by Andrew T »

Finally finished my HW 55 T project having had house renovations then Christmas now finally had time to myself to carefully assemble the stock I bought last year which I had refinished to a London oil finish with all the pores filled to a deep in the wood finish and re hand cut the chequering which Ross Waghorn did last August.

Was always looking for that special stock or have one custom made but having found this original factory stock with such beautiful grain and streaking, I couldn't pass this one.

I've had a brand new unfired action (except the factory test target) stored away since the early 80's, was keeping it for a future project.

Definitely a time capsule because it's still a brand new HW 55 T, I haven't ever fired one pellet through it and don't know if ever I will, I think I need more safes as they are filling up with so many Queens!

Being such a collector I just enjoy doing these things, I guess it's pride of ownership of one air guns all time classic's.

Love the tyrolean stock, reminds me of a violin.

Venom used to offer it on some of their rifles, the HW80 springs to mind.

Nice looking T.
I know a bloke from Tassie who walked into Canberra gun shop and bought one a few years ago. Lucky bugger.

This one Geoffrey!

For those who haven't seen it, it's a Beeman R7, or HW 30S, Ross Waghorn made the stock, I took 6 months finishing it, Buffalo horn inlay in the pistol grip, I hand made the trigger guard and butt plate out of pure non tarnish sterling silver, engraved and signed by Phil Vinnecombe, one of Australia's all time legendary engravers, I took all those Venom engraved custom gun centrefolds which heavily featured in Air Gun World and Air Gunner magazines to Phil to discuss and show how air guns are engraved, luckily I had this done in 2010 and since Phil has taken a turn for the worse and not doing it anymore so I believe.
