Borrowed a chrony....
.... and found some interesting results.
First rifle was the Sako L461 .223 with 21" barrel, 25.5gn AR2206h and 55 Sierra Game Kings. Results were 2865, 3034, 3050, 2985, 3052 fps. No surprises that velocity is down a little given the short barrel. I can't go any higher as with an extra 0.5gn extraction becomes sticky (the primary extraction is worn).
Next was Sako A1 .222 with 24" barrel, 22.0gn BM1 and 40gn v-max. Results were 3108, 3023, 3023, 3018, 3113 fps. Nice and consistent but a bit lower than I was expecting. I was hoping for up around 3300. The highest charge I have loaded to previously is 22.2gn with no pressure signs so perhaps I can push them a bit more.
The third rifle was the Rem 700 .22-250 with 24" barrel, 37.5gn AR2208 and 50gn v-max. Results were 3762, 3738, 3765, 3762, 3765 fps. Here again the consistency was pleasing. This load is getting warm in my rifle so I don't think I will push it any further.
The last rifle was the Sako L461 .20-22 with 26" barrel, BM 1 and 32gn z-maxes. I tried a few charges but mostly only 2 rounds each (only had a few primed cases left). Results were:
23.2gn - 3811, 3808, 3857 fps
24.1gn - 3950, 3968 fps
24.4gn - 4026, 4075 fps
24.7gn - 4116, 4034 fps
Happy with those results! Will prep some more cases during the week and shoot some longer strings next weekend to get a better idea of the average velocity.

Yeh Marcus, you should be able to go a bit harder there. I got 3688fps with a little 40g Sierra in my .222 Rem and ended up settling on a load of 3520fps all using 2207.Branxhunter wrote:.... and found some interesting results.

The little 20 cal is humming, could you go to 25.0 gns, would be a nice round number.

So I take it from that you haven't found any pressure problems so far ?Branxhunter wrote:I would need to use a drop tube - I am 2/3 up the neck at 24.7gn.Camel wrote:The little 20 cal is humming, could you go to 25.0 gns, would be a nice round number.
