From a dealer I've been buying quite a collection of nice old air guns, he recently called me with this incredible find.
It's a near mint pre war Webley Senior .22 cal which by it's serial number dates it to 1935.
The weight and heft in the hand just oozes quality, love those bakelite grips.
I feel very fortunate to own such a great piece of Webley history.

Was that the one you got at the auction via Klaus or another one?

Re: Webley Senior
No Geoff, Klaus's one never made it through customs, this one is from the dealer I got the BSA Cadet and that rare Remington BB gun.
He found it form a of a collector thinning his collection in NSW.
I'm gonna do some groupings tomorrow and see how she shoots.
I have a Webley MK1 .177 from 1926 and it's rated at 416fps, this one is .22 and shoots around 350fps, I've imported Wasp 5.6 m/m especially for it.
Interestingly it has a phosphor bronze piston ring as a piston seal which Webley claim will never wear out and to lube it with 30 grade motor oil, luckily I have an old VW Beetle in the garage and that's the oil I use in it.

On the left above the pistol grip you thumb forward that locking lever which is in the third pic down to release the back of the barrel, then the barrel levers forward towards the front to cock it, it pulls the piston forward to engage which when fired the piston travels backwards to the grip.
It's always been said these Webley's have a recoil similar to real handguns because of the rearward recoil.
