Leeton Fly Shoot
Gday guys,
We are looking at holding another 200m rimfire fly and 300m centrefire fly in the early half of next year.
Our major open fly shoot will still be in august. This one will be same but just not sponsored, there would be basic trophies for the first few places.
Previously our fly shoots have been like normal fly shoots in that the classes have been light and heavy fly. For our major fly shoot and this shoot the class will now change.
They will basicly be benchrest class and hunter/ varmint class.
So if it looks like a bench gun and barks like a bench gun its a bench gun. But hunting rifles and varmint rifles will be in a class of their own but still compete for overall place with the bench guns.
So guys if you are interested and would be a reasonable chance of making it leave a post below.
We are looking at having it on one of the first weekends in april, if you would be interested in going and one of these weekends clash with another shoot let me know as we may be able work out a better weekend if it cancels too many people.
cheers,
Shane

G'Day Shane,
the 2nd weekend sounds good to me.
A couple of questions though:
1. A Rem700 PSS in factory stock but with a 3" U channel bolted on, accurised & built by D Kerr (vic) & 1:8 twist F class rifle and 4oz jewel: BR or hunting/varminter class rifle?
2. A Annie 64MPR with a 6.5-20EFR leupy, does it have enough elevation for 200 RF fly or does it need shimming?
I"ll hopefully be able to get time off work.
FWIW, the Victorian F(O) series (SOTY) match is being held on the 5th Apr at Rosedale so may clash with some shooters calendar.......
Cheerio Ned
PS this shoot would make a great AusVarminter social meet and handy to many forum members along the east coast...........

Ned Kelly..
I think your PSS is in the same class as my 308..... they should not be allowed to compete in the varmint class I feel..... your 1:8 twist 223 is not exactly a standard varmint rifle and either is my Stiller/Lilja 308...
I think we should leave the varmint rifle class to the none customs......

Shane,
Why do you do this to me ??? Oh well another shoot on the calender.
How many shooters do you think you can accomodate at the benchs ?
Could the Varmit class shoot off the mound from bipods ?
Would you be interested in hosting this as an AusVarmit get together (as well) ...
Maybe have a an organised accomodation at the caravan park and dinner at the pub on Saturday night again.
cheers

knackers,
Varmit class = varmit rifle ... seems in keeping with the theme that you shoot from a bipod off the deck ... not too many benches in the paddocks
Ned,
6PPC will do ok at 300 .. just not as good as at 100 & 200 .. I don't think anyone will be using a full race heavy gun (waste of barrel life) at 300.
AI,
Should suit you mate 300 is 6mm Dasher territory.
cheers
