Spotlighting stick
Spotlighting stick
Picked up this L579 with a Maddco 22-250 barrel for destroying a few foxes & possibly vaporising rabbits.
Called my Smith & he has a 22-250AI reamer so i purchased a set of redding comp dies to suit.
The Nightforce was to fine in the crosshairs to use under the light so Iv parted with it & have a Zeiss 3-12x50 on its way.
Anyone else running a 250AI ?

Nice, very nice, for a Sako. I could ask my mate who has been running an AI for his loads, but beware, he loads em hot.
Re: Spotlighting stick
Thanks Camel .. i used to run 35.5gr of BM2 behind 40gr Sierra Blitzkings in all the other 250's iv owned.
Also after a set of blued 30mm medium height Optilock rings if anyone has a set spare to sell.

Should do the business. Very shiney. That rear sling swivel is a long way forward. What velocity did you used to get with the 40gn'ers and BM2?

Branxhunter i have never Crono'd a load in my life ....just picked a load out of Uncle Nicks book back in the day & ran that .... was lethal on Foxes & also shot a few pigs with the same load without a drama...think they were doing about 4000 from what the book said.

Ill ask him tonight, he has told me he is getting around 4500 for the 40gn bullets he uses, not sure which breed they are.

Re: Spotlighting stick
That is a fairly mild load Blowem
I was using 36.5 of BM2 behind 50's in my last couple of 22/250's got around 3900 give or take a few
Pluck it was loud
Not sure what my mate is using in his AI but starting loads for the 220 Swift is a good spot to start

Re: Spotlighting stick
Ken my 22x47lap would be a similar case capacity. I tried to see how fast I could get 40s to go. 8208 was doing a fine job!

Re: Spotlighting stick
Got a reply this morning re load for 22/250AI
38.1gns BM2 using 40gn Nosler varmageddon. No mention of cases and primers, but being a target shooter and having bucket loads of Lapua brass, I would hazard a guess that is what he uses.

Re: Spotlighting stick
Cheers for the info guys .. I picked up some Lapua brass & all I run is CCI BR primers in my bench guns so have heaps of those.
Also grabbed a box of 40gr Vmax pills.
Mark definitely give me a call if you decide to hit the Gundi area .. only 45 mins from here.
I found a set of blue rings as well.

Re: Spotlighting stick
If the vmax get torn apart the nbt are tougher. I had room for more powder but a lack of interest in pursuing the experiment further and they were still together at 4400fps FYI
