The weather was excellent with a touch of wind coming out of the left side of the range.

Parking lot looked full when I arrived, with a queue to pay the fee. Luckily not overly crowded, and it thinned out after mid-day.

Damn some people had some loud ass rifles up the big end of the range. The hearing protection was really struggling.

Well here's today's result with reloads. Start left to right from the top.

1. Fired two shots with my current factory ammo to check sighting. Then try the reloads working up .5gn at a time. I blame the windage on....wind.
2. This was very promising.
3. Looking very nice...blaming the wind again.
4. Ok...
5. Very happy except for a flyer.
6. Hmm...
7. Back to factory ammo to double check.

Great work Raven. Nothing like pulling the trigger on the first rounds you have loaded yourself. Looks like you have some promising loads to work on further - some tweaking of loaded length.

I used 50gn blitzkings when I had a 223. I have 24 50gn NBTs here if you want to test them

Yep, it was a special moment pulling the trigger on that first round. A lot of apprehension, despite having checked everything a million times.

It was very reassuring that as I worked through the loads that they all chambered well, went bang when they were meant to, and didn't give a hint of any pressure problems etc.

The somewhat less than tight groups probably had more to do with me. I learnt so much with this first batch that I'm certain I can improve on it further next time. Consistency will be the key.

The load length was kept to published numbers, and it could probably do with fiddling at a later stage.

The Blitzkings shoot very in my Predator. At the moment I'm using the OSA stuff, which provides the donor brass.

Thanks for the offer it's definitely something I'd like to try. However, I don't want to rush it yet and would like to keep everything the same until I get a bit more experience. After that I'm game to try anything

I think groups 3 and 5 i think it is looks promising other than the flyer 5 is very good vertical

Nothing better than reloads for the first time. I remember first reloads in first new barrel which was also not standard and fireforming for an ai great feeling so well done!

The feeling is even better with a wildcat!

Look forward to the next round.

Thanks for the comments guys. I know it's just a bunch of vague groupings but the challenge was to produce working reloads, and that was achieved.

I reloaded another batch tonight, taking on the experience from the weekend. Without pre-empting the results too much, this lot should be a bit more 'consistent' than the first. The process was a lot smoother and I had some idea what bits to focus on.

We'll see how this group goes later in the week. Slow and steady, but I'm really enjoying it so far.
