Even your bench looks like a true gun smiths bench. Shit everywhere.
I Know the feeling. Everything is on the bench some where so at least it's safe haha.

I think I asked you for some notice a while ago. Instead of a few days after I've already committed to the AHN Sambar stalk weekend. Oh well, next time

New 7mm
Started some load development last weekend with horrible results. The first 5 bangs resulted in a 24moa group at 100. Checked everything with no obvious answers so threw another 5 at the target and I may as well of been pattern testing SG's in the shottie. The barrel has coppered up severely so I stopped proceedings and headed home.
This is the first Tikka I've had that didn't shoot straight out of the box.
48 hours of cleaning and 3 different solvents later the bore was clean and getting a very close inspection. Just short of the crown were some drill marks left over from the manufacture of the barrel. Well, back to Beretta you go me thinks. Maybe not, that muzzle brake I threaded on to it the other week probably voids any warranty .
What to do?
Well. I could cut an inch off the barrel. I could slug the barrel and lap it with my million dollar diamond dust lapping paste.
Soooooooooo, I decided to try a different load/ projectile seeing as the 120gr vmax wasn't a happy camper.
After we finished our 300m mozzie shoot yesterday I put the 7mm on the bench and let loose with a few 162gr AMax's pushed along with some 2217. Lapping compound at the ready if a disappointing target appeared I, and another shooter let some go. Apparently 120 vmax s are shit and 162 AMax's are a gift from heaven. A ragged 1 hole group at 100m and a football sized rock disappeared after being hit 6 times at 500m.
Packed up and went home with a smile on my face.
PS. Being able to see your shots land through the scope at 500 off a bipod is so good it offsets the horrible racket from the brake

Hey Kickinback ! Thanks for those couple of shots - nice to shot with that break - you just need good ear muffs.

Good to hear it's all come together there Kicken. Funny how picky some rifles can be with projectiles, and others will perform with whatever you throw at them.
