Tikka M55

Post by curan »

A while ago I got a M55 in 222rem. Mechanically great. And it shoots well. But the timber is woeful. So when I got the chance to buy another M55 with a good stock, but a stuffed barrel, well, it was obvious. So it is underway, and another M55 is heading for my dealer.

So I will very soon be the owner of a M55 in 22-250 with a stuffed barrel, a stuffed stock (because I'm swapping it), but a good action, bolt and mag. So I have a choice. Do I part it out for the cost and end up with the stock I want, or do I take the action and fit up my own semi-custom. a 260 rem or one of the other options.

I have no idea what I will do, but I have no doubt there will be gentlemen on here with lots of thoughts to help me spend my money..... :D

cheers, curan

Shouldn't he just have bought a stock in the first place?

Agreed Trev, but I was in touch with Hatcher re a stock back at the start of the year, but he said he would get back to me and never did. And I figured I had done all the chasing up to that point, so stopped chasing.

But the sporter stock is a really nice feel and pattern on the 222rem (albeit with busted timber), so this purchase lets me make the 222 look good again, plus gives me the choice of a donor rifle......

... so many options!

+1, yep, plenty of time and room in the safe, so there is no rush.

..... and if I get a stock made, a replica of this tempts me......

.... the story is here.

..... or perhaps another option totally. Something I have to make brass for? Hmmm. Plenty of time yet.......
